New Truth Pregnancy Resource Center Opens in Dallas.
Dallas, TX, April 10, 2024 – The Truth Pregnancy Resource Center (TPRC), a new non-profit organization founded with the support of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas, announces its grand opening on April 26, 2024. The center, located at 8710 Greenville Ave, Suite C, aims to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally just reproductive counseling services to pregnant persons in Dallas, Texas. The grand opening event will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, welcoming members of the community to learn about the center’s services and mission.
The TPRC is established on the foundation of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas’ long-standing commitment to reproductive rights and freedoms. Its mission is to provide fact-based care and counseling to pregnant persons in need of accessible prenatal care, safe and legal abortion, or inclusive and equitable adoption services.
After months of preparation and supported by generous community donations and grants, the Truth Pregnancy Resource Center is poised to open its doors this spring as a direct response to the growing need for accurate and non-coercive pregnancy-related services.
The necessity of such a center in the community has been underscored by public concerns regarding crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs), which have been criticized for providing misleading information. The TPRC aims to distinguish itself by serving as a reliable source of information and support, countering misinformation, and providing care that respects the dignity and autonomy of each individual.
“In the state of Texas, there is no neutrality regarding reproductive justice,” said Deneen Robinson, Executive Director of Truth Pregnancy Resource Center. “The state allocates $50 million in taxpayer funds to the Thriving Texas Families program (formerly known as the Alternatives to Abortion Program.) With nearly 200 nonprofit CPCs in Texas outnumbering abortion clinics three to one nationally, state legislators have predetermined that taxpayer support will uphold anti-abortion efforts.”
“The Truth Pregnancy Resource Center is how we serve those who have been misled by ‘Crisis Pregnancy Centers’ with honest interpretations of sonograms and real solutions to their needs including non-discriminatory adoption, pregnancy information and referral and abortion options in states that can help them,” said Daniel Kanter, senior minister at First Unitarian Church of Dallas. “The war on the poor in Texas has been ongoing from the removal of rights and access to abortion to cutting childhood insurance and public-school funding. We can address this by being a loving, honest resource for those in need.”
Considering the challenges faced in accessing unbiased reproductive health information and services, the TPRC emphasizes its commitment to non-judgmental, gender-affirming care, and reproductive justice outreach. The center’s opening represents a significant step forward in ensuring accessible and equitable reproductive healthcare and information for all individuals in Dallas.
